A Ugandan gynecologist and content creator named Brian Outa has continued to spark intense debate online after doubling down on his stance about marriage.

In his remarks, he stated, “From the look of things, me and marriage we are going to be forced to go in opposite directions, that one I assure. Right now as I speak, one of the biggest mistakes you can make in this life is to get married—it has zero benefits.”

His comments have since triggered widespread reactions, with many people weighing in on relationships, gender roles, and modern lifestyles.

Many described it as an overwhelming commitment, especially when traditional expectations are involved.
One user commented:

“Not only men, even we women… the thought of waking up to prepare a grown man for work, cooking, doing house chores, and having children… aaah, ladies, that’s too much work. The goal is to chase money, invest, and enjoy life.”

Another added:

“Exactly ❤️ having children is adding more problems to an already existing problem 😂 guys, marriage and kids so lazima. Look for money, invest, and enjoy life period 💅.”

Critics Push Back: “Marriage Is Not the Problem”

However, not everyone agreed with the sentiments. Critics were quick to challenge what they described as “misleading advice,” arguing that failed personal experiences should not be used to discredit marriage as an institution.
One commenter wrote:
“Generation yenye peers wanapeana advice hupotezana mbaya 😂😂. If it’s not working for you, don’t mislead others. Hatutaki ukahaba.”
The same user went on to defend marriage from a religious perspective, stating:
“Marriage is a gift given from God to two adults… who choose each other, support one another, and live in love with God at the centre.”

A Clash Between Modern Freedom and Traditional Values

The ongoing discussion reflects a wider cultural shift, where modern ideas about independence and self-fulfilment are increasingly clashing with long-held beliefs about marriage, family, and responsibility.
Supporters of the gynecologist’s view argue that people should not feel pressured into marriage, especially if it does not align with their personal goals.
On the other hand, defenders of marriage emphasise its emotional, spiritual, and societal importance.
