“We have had a very good training camp and the players are responding well to the programme,” Munala said. “The focus is on improving our systems and ensuring that we are fully prepared physically and mentally for the challenge ahead.”
Munala, who guided KCB through previous continental campaigns, is under no illusions about the task awaiting his team but remains confident in their readiness.

“We know the competition will be tough because the best clubs on the continent will be there,” he said. “But we believe in the quality within our squad and we are confident that we can compete strongly.”
KCB’s ambitions are backed by a rich history in the competition, having lifted the African title in 2006 and again in 2022, a legacy Munala is keen to build on rather than rely upon.
The coach has also been boosted by key reinforcements as he fine-tunes his squad.
The return of Kenyan international Esther Mutinda strengthens the attacking unit, while libero Josphine Kataa adds depth in defence. Middle blocker Mildred Cherop is also back in the fold after a stint in the United Arab Emirates.
However, Munala must navigate the tournament without captain Edith Wisa, who is unavailable due to personal reasons, a setback that shifts additional responsibility onto the squad.
Despite that absence, leadership within the group has remained steady, with skipper Mercy Moim maintaining focus and cohesion in camp.
“We have been preparing well, and the team spirit in camp is very high,” Moim said. “Our goal is to go there, compete strongly, and represent the club and the country with pride.”
For Munala, however, the emphasis remains firmly on execution and discipline, elements he believes will determine how far KCB go in the tournament.
The final squad will be named on Friday ahead of the team’s departure on Saturday, marking the final phase of preparations.
