The Irony of the Scroll

The story began with a moment of irony. Just days before the incident, Ronoh was scrolling through TikTok. She saw a comment from a girl who claimed she had once been chased by a mentally ill individual.

Ronoh admitted that she laughed at the story at the time. She recalled thinking such an encounter was unlikely for her.

"I recall a girl saying, you know, I've ever been chased and beaten by a mad person," she said during her narration. "I was like, what? Where do you even get a mad person, bro?"

The Encounter at the Market

The situation changed when Ronoh set out for her gym session. Her route required her to walk through a local market. She was wearing her headphones and was locked into her routine.

She noticed a man carrying papers who lookedcrazy.Unlike her usual calm interactions with people on the streets, this man became fixated on her. As she walked past him, she realised he was staring directly at her.

"He’s really fixated on me. And I said, 'Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. I don’t like that. You’vekind of locked down on your target. I don’t like that.'"

A "Psychological Weapon"

Ronoh attempted to stay calm and "keep it cute" to avoid provoking the man. However, the man approached her and pushed her. She described feeling as though it were her crucifixion day.

She tried to use a tactic of smiling and laughing to de-escalate the tension. The man did not react with a smile in return.

It was at this point that Ronoh realised the danger she was in.

One of the most distressing aspects of the story was the lack of help from the public. Ronoh noted that as the man confronted her, bystanders actually moved away. She described the man as a "psychological weapon" because his actions were unpredictable, and others were too scared to intervene.

"Just know if you’vebeen approached by a psychological weapon, which is a mad person, you ain’t getting no help. Who wants to help you and the mad person? They will let you go through it,she added.

The Great Escape

The confrontation quickly turned into a chase. Ronoh tried to fast-walk away, but the man began "charging" at her. She turned to ask him what the problem was, but he continued to chant and move toward her aggressively.

Feeling physically threatened, Ronoh eventually ran. She ran until she was a safe distance away. When she finally turned back, the man was standing still, watching her.

Lessons and Reflections

Following the scare, Ronoh reflected on the unpredictability of the situation. She noted that she humbled herself because she was not dealing with a "decent human being" on a level playing field.

She ended her story with a blunt piece of advice for her audience. She urged people to prioritize their safety and flee immediately if they find themselves in a similar position.

"Moral of the story, run upon seeing a mad person," she concluded.
