According to police, the officers were ambushed by a man armed with a machete.

During the confrontation, Police Constable Walter Siocha sustained severe head injuries after he was cut by the suspect.

Reinforcements from the Aram Police Station responded swiftly, managing to rescue the officers and secure the scene.

The injured officer was first rushed to Amoyo Health Care Facility before being referred to Bondo Sub-County Hospital for specialised treatment.

However, he later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the facility.

His body was moved to Lwak Mission Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination, police said on Thursday.

Following the incident, police launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing as efforts to apprehend him continue, and that the family of the deceased officer has been informed.

Meanwhile, tension rose in the area amid fears of further operations in the search for the suspect.

The suspected weapon has not yet been recovered, police said, as efforts to secure it as an exhibit continue.

In a separate incident, a 60-year-old caretaker died after he was stabbed by suspected assailants in the Kipanga area, Nakuru West Sub-County, police said.

According to police, the incident was reported on the night of March 31, 2026, at around 10:50 pm.

Officers from Rhonda Police Station responded to reports of a stabbing and established that the victim, identified as Edwin Makani Mwanchi, had already been rushed to Nakuru Provincial General Hospital.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased worked as a caretaker at a residential property known as Mbatia Enterprises.

Authorities believe the attack may have been a revenge mission carried out by three young men who had previously lived at the premises before being evicted.

The suspects are alleged to have held a grudge against the caretaker and confronted him before stabbing him twice in the chest and stomach.

Mwanchi later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

His body was moved to the Nakuru PGH mortuary, where it awaits a postmortem examination.

Police have launched investigations into the incident and are pursuing leads to identify and arrest the suspects.
