Kenya continues to grapple with severe flooding as adverse weather patterns intensify across the country.
The National Police Service (NPS) reported on Friday, 27 March 2026, that 15 additional people have lost their lives, bringing the national toll to 103 fatalities.
The latest deaths occurred in Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley, Eastern, and Central regions. In addition, 105 more families have been displaced, raising the total number of displaced households to 2,795.
The NPS urged residents to remain vigilant and safety-conscious.
“Residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas should remain particularly alert, adhere strictly to official advisories, and be prepared to take timely action, including evacuation if necessary,” the service stated.
The floods have disrupted daily life and increased the risk of hazards, including road accidents. The NPS warned motorists to exercise caution, particularly during periods of reduced visibility and on waterlogged roads.
The NPS reminded the public that assistance is available round-the-clock through multiple channels. People can reach authorities via 999 or 911, through the toll-free number 0800 722 203 using #FichuaKwaDCI, or on WhatsApp at 0709 570 000.
Officials emphasised the need for coordinated efforts between communities and responsible agencies to mitigate the impact of ongoing floods.
The statement noted that “the increasing frequency and intensity of adverse weather in various parts of the country have created a situation that calls for sustained awareness and coordinated response from the public and responsible agencies.”
As heavy rains continue in various regions, authorities have stressed that preparedness and adherence to official guidance remain crucial in preventing further loss of life and property.
