Speaking after reappearing at his Karen residence, Tuju said he noticed a suspicious vehicle following him prior to his disappearance. According to his account, the vehicle had no number plates, which heightened his fears for his safety.
He explained that the situation escalated as the car appeared to deliberately close in on him while he was driving.
“They were definitely making sure they were back-to-back with me,” he said, describing the encounter.
Fearing for his life, Tuju made a quick decision to evade the suspected pursuers by diverting from his usual route. He managed to shake them off after turning onto a different road within Karen.

Abandoning His Car and Going Into Hiding
After escaping the individuals trailing him, Tuju said he chose not to return home immediately. Instead, he abandoned his vehicle and went into hiding.
Reports indicate he crossed into Kiambu, where a family offered him shelter for the night. He remained there until he felt it was safe to return.
Earlier, he had also reported to the police that he was being followed by a suspicious white vehicle without number plates before he disappeared.
Mistrust in Security Agencies
Tuju further raised concerns about law enforcement, suggesting that previous encounters had made him wary of seeking help from police.
He claimed that individuals believed to be police officers had previously visited his residence using unmarked vehicles, which contributed to his decision to go into hiding instead of relying on authorities.
Public Concern and Ongoing Questions
His disappearance had triggered widespread speculation online, with some fearing he had been abducted. However, his reappearance and explanation appear to have clarified the situation, although questions remain unanswered.
Authorities have yet to issue a detailed statement on the alleged pursuit or identify the individuals involved.
A Case Raising Security Concerns
Tuju’s account adds to the growing public debate around personal security, surveillance, and alleged cases of intimidation involving high-profile individuals in Kenya.
While investigations are expected to shed more light, the incident has already reignited concerns about safety and trust in security agencies—especially when prominent figures claim to feel unsafe seeking official protection.
