Tight security outside Dari Business Park on March 23, 2026/Enos Teche

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are camping outside former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju’s Karen home for the second day as part of an ongoing probe into his disappearance.

Tuju went missing on Saturday evening and has yet to be traced.

He was with his aide, Steve Mwanga, who is also missing.

A missing report has been made for both Tuju and Mwanga at the Karen Police Station.

The detectives investigating the saga camped outside the Karen home of Tuju, seeking to access it for a search as part of the probe.

The security there, however, allegedly denied them access, saying they were under instructions from the family not to allow them in.

This was the second time the cops were making the attempt.

This came as the family of Tuju, through their lawyers, planned a press conference at the home on Monday afternoon.

Tuju’s motor vehicle was later discovered abandoned along Miotoni Lane, with its hazard lights still on.

A security guard from a nearby institution alerted authorities, prompting a swift response by officers from Karen Police Station.

The scene was processed by crime scene investigators, and the vehicle has since been towed to Karen Police Station for further forensic examination.

Efforts to reach Tuju have so far been unsuccessful, as his mobile phone remains switched off.

A specialised investigative team has been deployed and is working in coordination with relevant government agencies to establish his whereabouts.

Authorities are utilising all available resources and investigative techniques to determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, the DCI said.

The DCI said it had noted that attempts by investigators to access Tuju’s residence along Mwitu Drive were denied by the family.

The agency has urged full cooperation from all parties, including unrestricted access to relevant locations and the prompt provision of information, to ensure a swift and thorough investigation.
