The President termed the move as part of the government’s ongoing push to expand access to electricity and boost local economies.
Speaking at Ebutani Junction in Khwisero Constituency, Ruto launched the Last Mile Connectivity Programme aimed at connecting more households in rural areas to the national power grid.

The initiative is designed to accelerate electrification and improve livelihoods by enhancing access to reliable energy.
The President said the programme underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive development, noting that electricity access is critical in driving economic growth, supporting small businesses, and improving the quality of life in underserved communities.
During the visit, he also presided over the groundbreaking of modern market projects in Kakamega and Vihiga counties.

According to the President, the new markets will offer traders dignified and secure environments to operate from, while also promoting regional commerce and job creation.
The twin initiatives form part of a broader development agenda focused on infrastructure expansion and economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
