At 22 years old, Otieno Bronick Odhiambo, popularly called an Oburu Odinga Junior, is making a name for himself as a performer who imitates Kenyan political figures.
In an interview with Mpasho, Oburu Jr revealed that he is a third-year English literature student at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, where his precise mimicry of Dr. Oburu Oginga Odinga has attracted attention among students and staff.
Dr Oburu Oginga Odinga, born in 1943, is a seasoned politician and economist from Kenya’s influential Odinga family. He has held multiple positions over the years, including:
  • Member of Parliament for Bondo
  • Assistant Minister for Finance
  • Member of the East African Legislative Assembly
  • Senator for Siaya County
Following the death of his younger brother, Raila Odinga, in October 2025, Oburu assumed leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). He has since been at the Centre of efforts to maintain unity within the party and the broader Odinga family network.

Early Life and Passion for Performance

Otieno’s journey into performance began in primary school, where he would entertain classmates and teachers by imitating voices and mannerisms. He describes his early interest in mimicry as formative:
“I chose this path because I love audiences,” he says, noting that performing allows him to connect with people in meaningful ways.
