Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has been honoured with the Christina Hackman Impact Leadership (CHIL) International Award.
Mwaura has been awarded in recognition of his contribution to social justice, inclusive communication and disability advocacy.
Speaking during the award ceremony, Mwaura expressed gratitude, describing the award as a reflection of dedication to a cause.
“Honoured to receive the prestigious Christina Hackman Impact Leadership (CHIL) International Award for contribution in social justice, inclusive communication and disability advocacy. When you focus on a cause and are dedicated to your calling, you never know who is watching. Glory be to God Almighty,” he said.
He praised the organisation and the ceremony, noting its unique focus on persons with disabilities and commended Ghana for its hospitality and democratic progress. The award ceremony was held in Accra, Ghana.
“For sure, this award ceremony is the most distinguished that I've ever gone to, specifically for persons with disabilities. I can tell you in my whole lifetime, the colour, the poem, the production, the citation, the profile, the evidence is on another level. Bishop Dr Charles Cofie Hackman, you are an organised man,” Mwaura said.
“I would want to say you are a man of steel, because you've done very well. I was keen to see what it is you exactly do for disability, but you have exactly 15 ways in which you are impacting the lives of persons with disabilities.”

Hackman Impact Leadership (CHIL) International Award in Ghana / HANDOUT The Christina Hackman Impact Leadership Awards (CHIL Awards) is an initiative of the H4P Organisation aimed at recognising individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the disability community and national progress.
The awards are named after the late Christina Anansiwa Hackman, mother of Bishop Dr Charles Cofie Hackman, in honour of her impactful service to humanity, particularly her advocacy for persons with disabilities.
Mrs Hackman was widely respected for her compassion and dedication to improving the welfare of vulnerable groups.
She played a pivotal role in supporting key H4P initiatives, including community outreach programmes, disability-focused events and advocacy platforms aimed at creating equal opportunities.
The CHIL Awards seek to inspire individuals, especially persons with disabilities, to contribute meaningfully to society, reinforcing the belief that disability is not inability.
The awards were officially launched on February 4, 2023, during the H4P Ability Praise Concert, where Emma Lilian Bruce-Lyle received the inaugural honorary recognition for her decades-long service to the disability community in Ghana.
Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura honoured with Christina Hackman Impact Leadership (CHIL) International Award in Ghana / HANDOUT In August 2025, the Government Spokesman was honoured with the prestigious Youth Impact Laureate Award at the 5th International Youth Forum, held at the United Nations Conference Center.
Mwaura was recognised for his groundbreaking work in championing disability rights and empowering vulnerable communities.
The Youth Impact Laureate Award is a rare honour. Mwaura becomes the second recipient of the accolade, following the late Nobel Peace Prize laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai.
His journey has been marked by resilience and advocacy. In Parliament, he played a central role in pushing for laws that laid the foundation for the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025.
On the Budget Committee, he ensured that resources for disability inclusion were significantly increased, transforming a Sh15 million allocation into Sh100 million for the National Council for Persons with Disabilities.
Beyond legislation, Mwaura has built communities.
Through the Albinism Society of Kenya, which he founded, he created a movement that grew beyond the country’s borders.
