Two people have died in separate electrocution incidents in Homa Bay and Busia counties, police said.

Police said investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

In Homa Bay County, police said they were investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman who was electrocuted while performing household chores in Oridi Village. The incident occurred on March 12, 2026.

The deceased, Eunice Adhiambo, was reportedly washing clothes and went to hang them on a clothesline attached to her main house when she came into contact with an electrified section, resulting in fatal burns to her hands and neck.

The body was moved to Ndhiwa Sub-County Hospital morgue for preservation pending a postmortem examination.

In Busia County, a 26-year-old man died after he was electrocuted while working at a car wash on Thursday evening.

The deceased, identified as Shadrack Oduor, was reportedly operating a car wash machine when a short circuit occurred, leading to the electrocution. His brother, Bernard Wandera, reported the incident to authorities.

Oduor was rushed to Siport Sub-County Hospital, where efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

The body was later transferred to Nangina Mission Hospital mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.

Police said such incidents have been on the rise and are blamed on illegal power connections and the use of unqualified individuals in electrical wiring. They added that a campaign is ongoing to address the problem.

In a separate incident, police in Bungoma County are investigating the death of a man who was fatally stabbed by his brother in Chepsoikei Village.

Police said the incident occurred on March 12, 2026.

Officers who visited the scene found the deceased, Alex Ndiema, 40, lying with severe injuries on the left side of his chest.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that Alex was attacked by his brother, who stabbed him on the left side of the chest, forehead, and left hand using a kitchen knife. The suspect remains at large.

The knife was recovered at the scene and documented as evidence. The body was taken to Kimilili Delight Morgue pending an autopsy.

Police said they have launched investigations and are pursuing leads to apprehend the suspect.
