A faction of ODM aligned to secretary general Senator Edwin Sifuna has unveiled a public fundraising initiative, rallying supporters to contribute small donations as it gears up for a face-off with President William Ruto.

The Linda Mwananchi team, on Friday rolled out a digital fundraising portal allowing Kenyans to contribute as little as Sh10 to support the group’s activities nationwide.

We are up against a regime that has unlimited access to your public funds and are not ashamed to abuse it to retain power,” the group says on its fundraising website.

The initiative, according to insiders, is meant to mobilise grassroots support and finance countrywide engagements, including civic forums, mobilisation drives and political outreach programmes aimed at challenging the government’s policies.

Sources within the camp say the fundraising push is part of a broader strategy to build a nationwide mobilisation network as the faction intensifies its criticism of the government and prepares for heightened political confrontations in the coming months.

The group argues the small-donation model will reduce reliance on wealthy political financiers while strengthening citizen participation in the opposition’s activities.

Through, the forum, supporters are also having opportunity to volunteer to the course by giving their details and location.

“Become part of the Linda Mwananchi movement. Your time, skills and passion can make a real difference in amplifying voices and driving positive change across Kenya,” an ushering message to volunteers reads.

“Victory will require all of us — one mwananchi reaching out to another. Join our volunteer team today and help us connect with Kenyans in every county across the country.”

The platform is not only intended to mobilise resources but also have real supporters to register ‘to make Kenya better’.

By time of going to the press, 2,529 supporters had successfully joined the platform.

"We, are the people of Kenya. We acknowledge the supremacy of the Almighty God of all creation. We are committed to nurturing and protecting the well-being of the individual, the family, communities and the nation,” a screaming messaged on the digital platform reads.

We are exercising our sovereign and inalienable right to determine the form of governance of our country in line with our constitution for ourselves and our future generations.

The development comes as the group gears to storm Coast region with its Linda Mwananchi rally next week on Sunday.

The team that also has Siaya Governor James Orengo, ODM deputy party leader Senator Godfrey Osotsi, MPs Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), Wamboka Wanami (Bumula), Wilberforce Oundo (Funyula) and Caroli Omondi (Suba South) will make a return to Nairobi on March 27.

Other members of the team are Senator Richard Onyonka (Kisii), Barongo Obadiah (Bomachoge Borabu), Erick Mogeni (Nyamira), Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Joshua Kimilu (Kaiti), Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai), Danson Mwashako (Wundanyi), and former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo.
