A female bar attendant was fatally stabbed in an argument with a suspect believed to be her boyfriend outside a bar in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The motive for the incident was not immediately known, police said on Thursday, March 12, morning attack.

Police reported that Betty Mwiti, 30, was in the bar when the suspect arrived and called her outside. An argument ensued, during which she was stabbed in the chest and stomach.

Revellers confronted the assailant and beat him up before police arrived to take him into custody.

Mwiti was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her body was later moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, while the suspect was admitted to hospital under guard.

Elsewhere, an 80-year-old woman was killed in a suspected murder in Samburu County.

The attack occurred on March 11 at around 2:30 p.m. in Lepiroi Village, police said.

The victim, identified as Jennifer Letoole, was allegedly assaulted by another elderly woman, also believed to be around 80 years old.

The suspect reportedly struck Letoole on the head with a panga.

Letoole was rushed to Samburu County Referral Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said she had sustained three deep cuts to the head. Her body has been preserved at the hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident, a 30-year-old man died following a violent altercation at a shopping centre in Makueni County, police confirmed.

The incident occurred on March 11 at around 6:10 p.m. at Kithumani Shopping Centre.

According to police, two men were engaged in a fight when a member of the public alerted authorities.

The victim, identified as Musyoka Ndumu, was rushed to Matiliku Level 4 Hospital with serious injuries but died while receiving treatment.

Police said Ndumu had allegedly picked a fight with a 24-year-old man, who sustained injuries to his right thumb. Ndumu suffered a deep cut on the left side of his chin during the altercation.

Two suspects present at the scene were arrested to assist detectives with ongoing investigations.

The victim’s body was moved to Kilome Nursing and Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination. Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to the fatal fight.
