
The body of a girl aged one year and eight months was found drowned in a river in Musanda, Kakamega County.
Police said the body was found floating in River Lusumu on Wednesday, long after she had died.
The circumstances surrounding the drowning were not clear. Police moved the body to a mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
Elsewhere in the Israel area of Machakos County, a 63-year-old man identified as Edward Mwatu was found drowned in River Miwongoni.
He is said to have drowned while riding home on a motorcycle after the rider attempted to cross the swollen river and was swept away by raging water.
The rider managed to swim through the flooded area as his pillion passenger was swept downstream on Tuesday night.
The body was moved to a mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
In Athi River, Machakos County, a body was found floating in the Mto Mawe River. Police and local residents retrieved the body of the man and moved it to a mortuary pending an autopsy.
Meanwhile, detectives are investigating the recovery of a decomposed body from a river in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
Security guards at Northlands City reported that there was a body along the banks of the Nairobi River, which runs through the expansive farm.
Police visited the scene and found a badly decomposed, partly mutilated body of a woman aged about 40 years, which police said might have been swept to the area by floods.
The body was moved to a mortuary pending identification and an autopsy, police said.
Police said they expect to recover more bodies from rivers following heavy rains experienced in Nairobi last week.
The rains caused floods that swept away several people who are now missing. More than 30 bodies have so far been collected and moved to mortuaries, while more than 100 cars were damaged during the flooding.
Multi-agency teams are still conducting search operations in various areas.
Meanwhile, police in Kisumu County are investigating the murder of a foreign missionary who was attacked at his rented house in the Kasule area of Kisumu East Sub-county.
The victim identified as Indangamuntu Irakiza Patrick, a Rwandan, was attacked by unknown persons at his residence on Monday, police said. He worked at Eagle River Ministries.
Preliminary information from tenants indicated that the deceased had earlier been seen in the company of an unidentified adult woman before retiring to his rental house.
Neighbours reported that at around 4:00 a.m., they heard screams coming from his house. When they rushed to check, they found him lying outside his door bleeding profusely with a deep cut on the forehead, while the house door was wide open.
Police said there were no signs of a struggle inside the house, but two electronic devices belonging to the victim were missing. No household items were reported stolen.
Neighbours rushed the injured missionary to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 7:00 a.m. while on life support.
Police said they are investigating the murder incident and no arrest has been made so far.
