Popular Kenyan gospel entertainer DJ Mo has survived a violent encounter with armed goons. The incident occurred in the Kenol area, where thieves armed with pangas targeted the star.
The attack comes only weeks after his friend and fellow gospel artist, Jimmy Gait, was reportedly accosted by goons in Nairobi’s Runda estate. These back-to-back incidents have raised concerns regarding the security of high-profile entertainers in the country.
A Dangerous Confrontation in Kenol
DJ Mo, whose real name is Samuel Muraya, was in the Kenol area when the group of attackers struck.

According to a message posted by his wife, Size 8, the goons were armed with machetes, known locally as pangas. During the robbery, the assailants focused on his personal belongings.
The thieves successfully made off with DJ Mo’s mobile phone. Despite the presence of dangerous weapons, the DJ escaped without life-threatening injuries. His wife later confirmed that he was safe, though the experience was clearly traumatic.
"Today I post to give God glory for safeguarding my husband’s life. Akiwa pande za Kenol thieves attacked him with panga took his phone, but he is alive." — Size 8 Reborn.
The Rescue and Recovery
The situation could have been much worse if not for the intervention of several individuals. DJ Mo’s wife, the celebrated singer and preacher Size 8 Reborn, took to social media to express her gratitude for his safety.
She specifically thanked three people—Tash, Kevo, and Ben—for what she described as a great rescue. Their quick actions played a vital role in ensuring the DJ’s safety during the ordeal.

DJ Mo later updated his followers on his condition via social media. He confirmed that he is feeling better and thanked his supporters for their messages.
However, he also issued a stern warning to the perpetrators who targeted him.
"Thank you fam... I am better but their day will come soon,” DJ Mo commented.
Background: Security Concerns for Artists
This incident follows a worrying pattern for those in the gospel industry. Just weeks earlier, Jimmy Gait faced a similar threat in the Runda area of Nairobi.
Runda is typically considered a high-security residential zone, yet goons were still able to target the singer there.
The attack on DJ Mo in Kenol further highlights the vulnerability of celebrities when travelling outside of heavily protected areas. Kenol, located along the busy Nairobi-Nyeri highway, is a growing hub but has recently faced reports of opportunistic crimes involving armed individuals.
Public Reaction and Faith
Size 8 Reborn’s public statement was rooted deeply in her religious faith. She attributed her husband’s survival to divine protection, calling God Jehovah Sabaoth.
Her post on Instagram garnered significant attention from the gospel community and fans alike.
"The devil is a liar! Our God reigns supreme!" she wrote, celebrating the preservation of her husband's life.

While the loss of the phone is a significant inconvenience, the family has remained focused on the fact that DJ Mo survived the encounter.
This marks the second high-profile attack on a gospel artist in less than a month, leaving many in the industry calling for heightened vigilance.
