Hot water in a sufuria/AI illustrated



A three-year-old girl died after falling into hot water in their home in Keringet area, Kuresoi, Nakuru county, her family told police.

The girl is said to have been passing near a sufuria full of hot water at their home on Saturday when she accidentally fell into the same and was seriously burnt.

She was rushed to the hospital where she died while being attended to. Police said she had burns on her legs and buttocks.

The family had rushed her to a chemist in the area before they were referred to the hospital, where she succumbed, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Elsewhere, there was drama when a family exhumed a body that had been wrongly given and buried in Wangai, Gem county.

The family said they had buried one Pelesia Atieno, 90, instead of Petronila Okello, 105.

The family of Atieno reported where she had been buried, and the family moved to exhume her remains at night without involving the police and took it to the local mortuary.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

Police are supposed to be informed of such incidents to investigate and seek orders for possible exhumation.

Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident where a mechanic was shot and seriously wounded while at a garage in Kondele area, Kisumu county.

The victim is a mechanic at a garage in the area and was winding up the day’s operations when he felt a sharp pain in the shoulder on Friday evening.

He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors removed a bullet lodged in the right side of the chest.

Police were called to the scene and confirmed the man had been shot by an AK47 rifle.

The bullet was taken for analysis as investigations into the incident go on, police said.

The victim was in a stable condition on Sunday amid ongoing investigations.

Police want to establish the person behind the shooting and the motive.

In a different incident, the body of a four-year-old boy who drowned in Masisieta river in Migori county was retrieved after a long search.

The boy drowned in the river as he was swimming with his friends. The police said the body was moved to the mortuary after the March 6 drowning incident.
