The morning of April 30, 2025, began like any other for Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were. He arrived at Parliament’s Bunga Towers at 6:39 a.m., dressed casually for his daily gym session.

But as he worked out, a meticulously planned assassination plot was already in motion just outside the gates.

Chilling CCTV footage obtained by KTN News has now reconstructed the final hours of the legislator’s life. The evidence suggests a dark betrayal from within his inner circle.

Prosecutors allege that the MP’s own bodyguard, Allan Omondi Ogola, met with the killers on the day of the attack to coordinate the execution.

A Swap of Vehicles

The MP appeared to have some fear for his safety that morning. After his gym session, he instructed his driver to take his usual V8 vehicle back to his home in Karen.

However, his movements were being tracked by "unseen eyes." Investigators recovered footage from over 1,000 CCTV cameras across Nairobi, including Parliament Road and Valley Road.

The trail shows a silver-grey vehicle, registration KAZ 645Z, and a motorcycle shadowing the MP throughout the day.

"The surveillance trail paints a chilling picture... what first appeared to be a routine city movement now resembles a carefully mapped pursuit,” KTN’s reporter noted.

The Police Connection

The vehicle used by the hit squad has raised serious questions. KTN established that the car, KAZ 645Z, belonged to an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

It was reportedly sold for 300,000 shillings on the very day the MP was killed. One of the suspects, William, allegedly borrowed the car to facilitate the murder.

The Bodyguard’s Alleged Role

As evening approached, the coordination intensified. At 7:08 p.m., CCTV captured the MP’s bodyguard meeting a man believed to be part of the assassination plot near Equity Bank.

They conversed for several minutes just 20 minutes before the MP was delivered to his killers.

At 7:22 p.m., the bodyguard met the MP inside the National Assembly and handed him his phone and documents. He then ushered the MP into the co-driver’s seat of the Toyota Crown.

As they drove out of the Parliament gate, the MP was seen waving to colleagues, unaware it was his final farewell.

Death at the Roundabout

The killers followed closely as the vehicle moved towards Ngong Road. The hit was executed at the traffic lights near the City Mortuary roundabout. Two assailants on a motorcycle pulled up alongside the car and opened fire in cold blood.

The shooters chose a location where the CCTV cameras were "dead asleep," leaving no visual record of the trigger being pulled. Five suspects, including the bodyguard and the alleged hitman, Isaac Kuria, are now facing murder charges. They remain in custody as the case continues at the Kibera Law Courts.
