Two-year-old boy drowns in septic tank after slab collapses in Madogo area, Tana River County

A two-year-old boy died in a septic tank after he fell therein in an accident in Madogo area, Tana River county.

Police said the boy was with his mother and a neighbour and were seated on a slab covering the septic tank when it suddenly collapsed.

They all fell into the tank as neighbours rushed to their rescue in the March 5 incident. The mother and the neighbour were rescued alive, while the boy was found drowned therein. The incident happened outside their house.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said they are investigating the incident.

Elsewhere in Yala, Siaya county, a body of a man was found floating on River Yala after a suspected drowning incident.

The body was decomposing when it was discovered on Thursday afternoon, police said. The victim wore a black trouser and the body did not have any visible injuries at the time and was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and identification.

In Salama, Laikipia County, the body of one Modeston Kamau was retrieved from a dam after he drowned there.

Police said the body was stuck on the floor of the dam, which took two days to find. It was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

And a man was found dead after he had been stabbed in a fight with his girlfriend in Nyamaiya area, Nyamira county.

The woman was rushed to the hospital with stab injuries, too.

Police said the two had argued in the area before they attacked each other.

In Oyugis, Homa Bay County, a bodaboda rider identified as Avi Owawa, 24, was stabbed to death in a fight. He is said to have been stabbed by a fellow bodaboda rider in an argument.

The assailant escaped the scene after the incident.

In Kadele area, Homa Bay county, one Odhiambo Ongete, 32, was killed by unknown people.

His body was found lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut in the back of his head.

In Ogembo, Kisii county, one Kevin Onsando, 27, was electrocuted at a construction site.

Police and witnesses said he was fixing timber on a wet wall that was near a live wire lying over his head when he was electrocuted.

In Karungu, Migori county, a six-year-old girl was electrocuted in an incident at Lwanda trading centre.

This was after she stepped on a live naked wire on the shores of Lake Victoria.

A man who tried to rescue her was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital.
