A middle-aged man was killed in a fire incident in Nairobi’s Ngando, Riruta area.

The fire broke out from a furniture store before it spread quickly to other structures. It burnt down more than 40 structures, police said.

Fire engine rushed to the scene and managed to contain the fire. It was then that the body of the man was discovered in one of the flattened structures, police said of the Wednesday night incident.

The remains were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere in Kithimu, Embu county, the body of a man was found floating in a dam after a suspected murder incident.

The body had decomposed when it was discovered on Wednesday evening. He was later identified as Michael Gicovi Ndwiga. Police suspect he was killed and dumped at the site, but the motive is yet to be known.

The body had been tied in a sack and reinforced with two huge stones to ensure it does not float.

The body had a deep cut in the throat and was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

No arrest had been made by Thursday, even as investigations continued.

In Musoli, Kakamega county, a body of one Tyson Mavihala, 27, was found on the bank of River Yala after a suspected murder.

Police said the body was decomposed when it was retrieved from the water on Wednesday evening.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

In Mwiki area, Nairobi, a body of a man was found floating on Nairobi River after a suspected drowning incident.

Police said they are investigating the incident and that the body was moved to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy.

In Mulika, Meru county, a five-year-old girl who was a PP2 pupil at Rurie Primary School drowned in a stream as she played with her friends.

Her body was retrieved from the stream hours after the incident on March 5, police said as they moved it to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, a woman was found murdered in her house in Mathari area, Nyeri county.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known. The body of Charity Wangeci Muhita was found hidden under her bed after she had been killed.

The house door was open when her relatives, who were concerned she was not responding to her calls, arrived at the scene at Transformer village within Mathari location.

In Githumu, Muranga county, one Joseph Njoroge Wanjiku, 32, succumbed to injuries sustained as a result of a falling tree which he was directing by pulling a rope as it was being cut by power saw man.

The man who was cutting the tree escaped the scene soon after the incident.
