The emotional weight of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed six lives on 1 March was laid bare on Thursday in Emurua Dikirr.

Among the thousands of mourners, one figure stood out: Guru Buvati, the personal videographer to the late Emurua Dikirr MP, Johana Ng’eno.

Buvati was captured in a series of heartbreaking photos that have since gone viral across social media. The images show him breaking down in tears while attempting to maintain his professional duties during his boss’s final requiem mass.

Despite the large crowds and the presence of high-profile leaders, the videographer appeared lost in grief. He struggled to operate his camera as the caskets were brought forward.

For many years, Buvati was the man responsible for documenting the public life of the MP, but this final assignment proved to be his most difficult.

The Viral Outpour of Grief

Social media users were quick to notice Buvati’s distress. Images shared on platforms like X and Facebook showed him wiping away tears while still trying to focus his lens on the proceedings.

Others who knew the duo remarked on the close bond they shared. Buvati was more than just an employee; he was a constant companion in the MP’s political journey.

The Mosop Tragedy

The requiem Mass followed the devastating events of March 1, 2026. A helicopter carrying MP Johana Ng’eno and five others crashed in Mosop, Nandi County. There were no survivors.

The joint mass served as a final farewell for the victims who hailed from the region. The atmosphere was somber as the local community tried to come to terms with the sudden loss of their representative.

For Guru Buvati, the lens that usually captured the triumphs of Johana Ng’eno was now focused on a wooden casket. His reaction has become a symbol of the deep personal loss felt by those who worked closely with the late legislator.
