Hundreds throng the funeral service of Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ng'eno, four others /PCS

Several leaders and hundreds of mourners gathered on Friday in Narok County to pay their final respects to Johanna Ng'eno, the Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ng’eno, who died in a tragic helicopter crash a week ago.

The funeral service was held at Emurua Dikir Primary School, drawing a large crowd of residents, political leaders and family members who turned up to mourn the outspoken legislator.

Among those present were President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, who led other leaders in honouring the late lawmaker.

The leaders joined hundreds of mourners in paying tribute to Ng’eno, remembering him as a vocal representative of his constituents and a dedicated public servant.

Ng’eno died on February 28, 2026, in a helicopter crash in Nandi County that claimed the lives of all six people on board.

According to reports, the Airbus H125 helicopter burst into flames after hitting the ground in a forested area near Chepkiep in Mosop Sub-County.

Witnesses and officials said the helicopter went down at about 4.45 pm shortly after attempting to take off from a makeshift landing site near Chepkieb Forest.

The crash occurred at the edge of Chepkieb Forest in Mosop, sending shockwaves across the country and prompting an outpouring of condolences from leaders and members of the public.

Those who perished in the crash alongside Ng’eno were Robert Kipkoech Keter, Amos Kimwetich Rotich, Nicholas Kosgei, Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono and retired Colonel George Were.

During the funeral service, leaders described the late MP as a fearless and passionate politician who was committed to serving the people of Emurua Dikir.

They said Ng’eno had built a reputation as a vocal defender of his constituents and was known for speaking his mind on national issues.

Residents from across Narok County and neighbouring areas turned up in large numbers to mourn the legislator, many describing him as a leader who remained closely connected to the grassroots.

Family members and close friends paid emotional tributes to the late MP, recalling his dedication to his family and his unwavering commitment to public service.

Ng’eno’s death marked a major loss to the people of Emurua Dikir constituency and the wider political leadership in Narok County.

Investigations into the cause of the helicopter crash are ongoing as authorities seek to establish what led to the fatal incident that claimed six lives.
