Detectives are investigating the death of a 27-year-old man who was shot during a robbery in Obwolo, Kisumu County.

Edward Osamba, 27, was a customer at a chemist when three people on a motorcycle struck on Wednesday night, March 4.

According to police, the gang arrived at the chemist and ordered the customers to leave along the Mamboleo-Guba Road. They then instructed the victims to lie down.

When Osamba reportedly resisted, one of the gunmen retrieved a G3 rifle from a bag and shot him in the head at close range.

Police and witnesses said the assailants escaped on their motorcycle without stealing any items. Officers recovered two live 7.62x51 mm rounds and two spent cartridges at the scene.

The body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said on Thursday that efforts to track the suspects were ongoing, with additional teams deployed to support the search.

In Mandera Town, a man was shot and seriously injured by unknown gunmen during a robbery on Wednesday morning. The attackers stole his salon car and drove towards the Kenya-Somalia border.

Police reported the incident occurred in the Barawako area. The victim was shot in the head while driving from his home by two people on a motorcycle. A spent cartridge was recovered at the scene. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Elsewhere, in Butere, Kakamega County, police are investigating a home robbery in which a female teacher was assaulted. She told officers that two suspects entered her house, attacked her, and stole a television and a three-kilogram gas cylinder. The woman received medical attention, and investigations are ongoing.
