Kenyan Baseball5 coaches have received a major boost following a three-day Technical Training for Coaches (TCC) programme led by Andrea D'Auria, Head of Technical at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
The training, held at the Multimedia University of Kenya, aimed to equip coaches with advanced technical knowledge and practical tools to raise the standard of Baseball5 in the country.
The intensive programme combined classroom sessions, practical demonstrations, and strategic discussions focused on modern coaching methodologies, athlete development pathways, game management, and international standards of play.
It also incorporated Olympic Solidarity principles, providing participants with insights into global best practices for building sustainable and competitive Baseball5 programmes.
Speaking during the training, D'Auria emphasised the importance of structured technical education in developing strong sporting foundations.
“Empowering coaches with the right technical knowledge is fundamental to developing athletes and strengthening the sport at every level. Kenya has great potential, and investing in coaching education is a critical step towards unlocking that potential,” she said.
The training received strong support from local officials. Francis Njeru Karugu and Paul Obonyo welcomed Dawria and commended the coaches for their dedication throughout the programme.
“Technical knowledge is not merely acquired for certificates or applause — it is meant to be applied. I urge each of you to put into practice what you have learned and let the skills and insights shared here reflect in your projects, careers, and contributions to society,” Obonyo said.
Coaches attending the programme expressed appreciation, noting that the practical insights and international coaching methods would directly enhance player development and performance in Baseball5 competitions.
The successful completion of the three-day programme marks another milestone in WBSC’s partnership with Kenya’s Baseball5 community. With coaches now better equipped with global best practices, Kenya is well-positioned to strengthen grassroots structures, develop athletes more effectively, and raise the competitiveness of Baseball5 nationwide.
