Ford Kenya has intensified its grassroots mobilisation after registering more than 2,000 new members during a recruitment drive in Nandi.

Party officials camped in the county, where a sensitisation and recruitment exercise was conducted mainly in Kapkangani ward.

Deputy secretary general Elizabeth Iminza and National Women’s League President Pauline Nasirumbi spearheaded the drive.

It was locally coordinated and sponsored by Kapkangani MCA aspirant Erastus Ndeda. Youth league leaders and local party officials also attended.

The party is led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

Addressing residents, Iminza said the growing numbers signaled renewed confidence in the party’s agenda.

"Ford Kenya is on a strong growth trajectory. The overwhelming turnout here in Kapkangani shows that wananchi believe in our vision of inclusive development and accountable leadership,” she said.

She added that the party would intensify membership drives across the country in preparation for next year’s general election.

"We welcome all new members and assure them that this party will be their political home,” she said.

Nasirumbi described the recruitment drive as a defining moment for women's and youth's participation in local politics.

"We are building a party that listens to the grassroots. Women and young people must take their rightful place in leadership. Kapkangani has sent a powerful message that Ford Kenya is alive, vibrant, and expanding,” she said.

Ndeda said he was encouraged by the response from residents, including former members of the Amani National Congress who are seeking a new political home following the party’s dissolution and merger with the UDA.

"Many people felt politically homeless after the ANC was dissolved. Now they have found a new family in Ford Kenya,” Ndeda said.

He added that the party was focused on fielding aspirants for all seats across the county in next year’s general election.

"I am committed to strengthening the party at the ward level and ensuring our people have a strong voice in county leadership,” he said.

Among those who joined the party was Beatrice Jerono, a trader in Kapkangani, who said she previously supported ANC but opted to switch allegiance.

"When ANC merged with UDA, I felt uncertain about my political future. Ford Kenya has given us a platform where our views are respected,” she said.

She added that they would work to ensure more residents embrace Ford Kenya as their political vehicle ahead of the elections.

"I believe this party will champion the interests of ordinary wananchi,” she said.

Collins Kipkorir, a youth from the ward, said the recruitment drive inspired confidence among young voters.

"We want leaders who engage us directly and understand our challenges. Today’s event has shown that Ford Kenya is ready to walk with the youth,” he said.

Also present was John Ereng, a Ford Kenya official from Turkana County, who hailed the Nandi exercise as a model for other regions.

"What we have witnessed here in Kapkangani is a demonstration of serious grassroots mobilisation,” Ereng said.

He added that similar drives would be conducted in Turkana and other regions to strengthen the party’s structures nationwide.

The Kapkangani exercise marks one of the largest single-day recruitment drives by Ford Kenya in the region.

It underscores the party’s renewed push to consolidate support and expand its national footprint ahead of future electoral contests.
