Kisii School rugby 15s team during a training session at the school/ANGWENYI GICHANAFederation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) rugby 15s champions Kisii School will on Wednesday launch their quest for the county crown with a high-stakes clash against arch-rivals Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, as the Kisii County Term One Games kick off at Kisii School.
The headline fixture sets the tone for what promises to be a fiercely competitive championship, with Cardinal Otunga coach Edwin Metobo confident of upsetting the hosts on their own turf.

“It will be a tough game, but a perfect way to start the county championships. I’m looking forward to an entertaining game,” said Metobo.

Kisii School, who are also the reigning Nyanza Region champions, will wrap up their Pool A assignments against Rioma Secondary, while Cardinal Otunga conclude their preliminary matches against the same opponents.
In boys’ handball, county champions Kisii School, under coach Clinton Kenyanya, begin their title defence against Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho. Former champions Ndonyo Mixed face Tabaka Boys, while Sameta Boys take on Nyamokenye in other fixtures.
The girls’ handball contest will see favourites Kereri Girls open their campaign against Omobera, as champions Ndonyo Mixed battle Ichuni Girls.

Nduru Boys, while Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho, have a tricky tie against Tendere Mixed.
Nyanchwa Boys coach Kepher Mogire remains optimistic despite losing the sub-county final to Kisii School.
“I had a better team last year. I only have two players who featured in last year’s games, but I’m hoping for a good run because this is the team I’m building,” said Mogire.
In the girls’ basketball category, county champions Kereri Girls take on Igorera, while former three-time champions St Angela’s Sengera face Nyankanda Mixed.
St Angela’s Sengera coach Kennedy Wekesa has made his intentions clear.
“We are out to reclaim our title, which we lost to Kereri Girls last year. The girls are ready to compete against any team,” he said.
In girls’ hockey, Amaiko Mixed will play Kereri Girls on a home-and-away basis to determine the champion.
The boys’ hockey competition will adopt a round-robin format, with defending champions Cardinal Otunga, former champions Nduru Boys, Sameta Boys, Riokindo High and hosts Kisii School battling for top honours.
