Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu consoles mother to late Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ngeno at her Mogondo home, in Dikir, Narok County on March 2, 2026/ COURTESYA joint funeral programme has been unveiled for the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno and four others who perished alongside him, with Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu assuring the public that the county government will fully cater to the burial expenses.
In a notice to the public, Governor Ntutu announced a detailed itinerary of activities leading up to the final send-off, describing the arrangements as a united tribute to leaders and professionals who “stood together in life.”
The programme begins tomorrow (Wednesday), March 4, with a church mass in Nairobi to honour the late MP.
The service will be presided over by Africa Gospel Church (AGC) Karen Church, where family, friends, leaders, and members of the public are expected to gather in remembrance of Ngeno’s life and service.
On Thursday, March 5, in keeping with Kipsigis customs, the bodies of Ngeno and Wycliffe Rono will be transported from Lee Funeral Home to their respective rural homes for an overnight vigil.
On the same day, the bodies of Carlos Keter, Nick Kosgey, and Amos Kipngetich will also depart Nairobi.
Earlier that Thursday morning, a requiem mass will be held at Emurua Dikirr Primary School, giving members of the public an opportunity to pay their last respects.
After the prayers, the bodies of Keter, Kosgey, and Kipngetich will be preserved at the Kilgoris morgue, while those of Ngeno and Rono proceed to their homes in preparation for burial.
The climax of the ceremonies will be Friday, March 6, when all five bodies converge at Emurua Dikirr Primary School for a joint final rite.
The symbolic ceremony is expected to draw national and county leaders, reflecting the shared journey of the departed.
“Following the joint ceremony, each family will proceed with the burial at their respective homes,” the governor stated.
Ntutu said that in his capacity as the county chief, he directed that all the bodies be received and preserved at Lee Funeral Home to ensure proper coordination and dignity in the arrangements.
“All funeral expenses will be fully met by the county government of Narok,” he affirmed.
The joint programme underscores the unity that marked the lives of the five.
As leaders noted in the announcement: in life, they stood together; in death, they shall be honoured together.
The five, including the pilot, George Were, perished after the chopper registration number 5Y-DSB crashed at Chepkieb in Nandi County Saturday afternoon, February 28.
Ngeno and his aides were from an event in Endebess in Trans Nzoia County.
