Apology: Muriira was not under suspension during KEBS MD appointment

On October 16, 2023, we published an article on the Star online platform captioned, “Suspended Kebs official recommended for appointment as MD” in which we inadvertently stated that the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KBS) board had recommended for appointment as the managing director for KEBS three candidates including suspended Director of Quality Assurance and Inspection Geoffrey Muriira.

We have since established that as of the time, Geoffrey Muriira’s earlier suspension had been lifted as of August 9, 2023. Geoffrey Muriira was thus not under suspension in October 2023 when the appointment of Kebs Managing Director was done.

We regret the error and take this opportunity to apologise to Geoffrey Muriira for any harm and embarrassment caused by the publication. The Star had no malicious intentions towards Geoffrey Muriira.
