
The government on Friday made a series of strategic appointments and re-appointments across multiple state agencies.
In a notice issued under the powers conferred by respective laws, Cabinet Secretaries re-appointed and appointed members to boards of institutions including the National Standards Council, Retirement Benefits Authority, Clinical Officers Council and the Kenya Sugar Research and Training Institute.
At the National Standards Council, Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui reappointed Francis Kuria, Grace Momanyi, and Stephen Yego for a three-year term starting February 27, 2026.
Abdi Mohamed was appointed as non-executive Chairperson of the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) Board by Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.
The Clinical Officers Council (COC) also saw new board members appointed.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale appointed Kipkoech Geoffrey, Joseph Wachira, Shadrack Asena, Pauline Korere, Abdirahman Mohamed, and Salma Abdi.
They will serve for a period of three years.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Sugar Research and Training Institute welcomed Joseph Too, Frederick North-Coombes, Kizito Wangalwa, and Vasey Mwaja to its board.
The appointments were made by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.
Youth empowerment also featured prominently, with Fatma Barayan re-appointed by Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya as non-executive chairperson of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund Board.
Another notable appointment is that of Isack Fayo, who was appointed by Water Cabinet Secretary Eric Mugaa to the Northern Water Works Development Agency.
Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, on her part, appointed Miriam Bomett to the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration.
She also reappointed Samuel Nderitu to the same arbitration centre.
The appointments are contained in a Gazette notice dated February 27, 2026.
President William Ruto also formally appointed Francis Meja as the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC) for a six-year term.
The appointment, dated February 27, 2026, was made under the powers of Article 250(2) of the Constitution and in line with the procedures set out in the First Schedule of the Public Service Commission Act (Cap. 185).
