The event, one of the major fixtures on the club’s calendar, will be played in the Stableford format, allowing golfers of different handicaps to compete on equal footing in what organisers expect to be a competitive and lively day on the course.
Club captain Adrian Monari said the club is fully prepared to host the tournament, noting that Kisii Sports Club has increasingly become a preferred venue for major golfing events in the region.
“We are proud to welcome over 100 golfers for the CBK tournament. Over the years, Kisii Sports Club has grown tremendously both in infrastructure and reputation,” said Monari.
“Under our current leadership, we have positioned the club as a hub for major golf events in the region. This tournament is a testament to that progress and our commitment to growing the game.”
Golfers will compete for honours across several categories, headlined by the Overall Winner prize. Additional awards will include Men’s Winner and Ladies’ Winner, alongside first and second runners-up in the main categories.
Competition will also be divided into Division One, Division Two and Division Three, each featuring winners and runners-up, ensuring players of different abilities have a chance to challenge for honours.
Other prizes on offer include Guest Winner and Guest Runners-Up, Sponsor Winner and runners-up, as well as awards for Senior Winner and Junior Winner.
Skill-based prizes are also expected to add excitement to the tournament, with golfers competing for Longest Drive in both the men’s and ladies’ categories, Nearest to the Pin and Best Effort awards.
Beyond competition, the event will also incorporate a financial education component, with Central Bank of Kenya Kisii Centre Manager Sophie Ongalo set to introduce golfers to the DhowCSD investment platform.
The initiative will provide participants with practical information on investing in Treasury Bills and Bonds, with organisers saying the programme is aimed at equipping golfers with knowledge and confidence in government securities.
The CBK tournament comes at a time when Kisii Sports Club is strengthening its profile as an emerging golfing destination, with improvements in course standards and an expanded tournament calendar attracting increased participation.
The event is also expected to boost sports tourism in Kisii County, with visiting golfers and officials set to inject activity into the local hospitality sector.
With favourable course conditions expected and a strong field confirmed, organisers anticipate a competitive contest as players battle for top honours in one of the region’s key amateur golf tournaments.
