Kenyan actress and podcaster Carrol Sonie has opened up about a difficult period in her life involving body shaming and mental health struggles.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the digital creator shared a retrospective look at her life in 2022. She revealed that during this time, she faced intense scrutiny and insults regarding her physical appearance.
The Impact of Online Insults
In her social media update, Sonie shared a photo from 2022 to illustrate how much her body had changed. She explained that she was extremely slim at the time, which led to a wave of negative comments from the public.

According to Sonie, some social media users went as far as to suggest she was suffering from a physical illness.
"Some of you really insulted me for my weight others even told me I was sick," she wrote in her post.
She described her physical state during that year as a period where she had lost a significant amount of weight.

This physical change was so drastic that she eventually decided to shave her hair.
"Depression was my cup of tea every day,” she added.
