
President William Ruto on Thursday presided over the 46th recruits pass-out parade at the Prisons Staff Training College in Ruiru.
The event marked the successful training of 3,862 officers.
The ceremony celebrated nine months of rigorous paramilitary and correctional training undertaken by the young men and women, who now join the ranks of the Kenya Prisons Service.

“I am delighted to join you today as we celebrate the achievement of 3,862 officers who have completed nine months of rigorous training,” the President said.

Ruto said the pass-out parade underscores the government’s commitment to transforming Kenya’s criminal justice architecture into a system that upholds the rule of law, safeguards constitutional rights and advances progressive reforms aimed at enhancing public safety.
The President said the mandate of the Prisons Service extends beyond the safe custody of offenders.
He said the newly commissioned officers are entering a disciplined service charged with reinforcing social order, supporting the administration of justice, and contributing to safer communities across the country.
“As the country’s latest cohort of recruits, you are joining a disciplined service whose mandate extends far beyond the safe custody of prisoners. Your duty is to strengthen social order, support the administration of justice, and help build safer communities across our nation,” Ruto said.

He inspected the parade and took the salute from the recruits, affirming the government’s continued investment in institutional capacity-building within the correctional sector.
The newly graduated officers are expected to be deployed across the country to bolster staffing levels, improve operational efficiency, and support reforms within correctional facilities nationwide.
