Kenyan hip-hop heavyweight Khaligraph Jones has responded with trademark sarcasm to a viral social media post. The post listed several Kenyan artists who claimed to be capable of outrapping him.
Known to his fans as "The OG," the rapper used humour to dismiss the suggestions, sparking a heated debate among music fans on X (formerly Twitter).
The List That Ignited the Debate
The controversy began when an X user, posting under the handle @GuyLikeSaint, shared a list of artists he believes can outperform Khaligraph Jones.
The list included established names such as Octopizzo, Elisha Elai, Timmy Blanco, Twenny Eighths, Femi One, Abbas Kubaff, and Nyashinski.

The user also included "honourable mentions" for Chris Kaiga, Rekkles, and Elsy Wameyo. Posted on 23rd February 2026, the tweet quickly gained traction.
Khaligraph Responds with Sarcasm
Khaligraph Jones did not let the post go unnoticed. He replied directly to @GuyLikeSaint with a sarcastic suggestion of his own.
"Umesahau Kuongeza Simple boy, Ngesh ngesh Na Diana B ??."

By mentioning Stevo Simple Boy, Ngesh, and Diana B—artists often associated more with viral entertainment than technical rap prowess—Khaligraph appeared to mock the credibility of the original list.
A Divided Comment Section
The exchange triggered a wave of reactions from the Kenyan digital community. Many fans rushed to defend Khaligraph’s status in the industry.
User @mylcebonn stated, "The OG shall be respected na sio tafadhali," while @arapfyp questioned the list's criteria, asking if the artists were meant to "out rap ama out sing?"
Another supporter, @ChoxxThaDon, argued that no rapper in Africa, except perhaps South Africa's Nasty C, can compete with Khaligraph. He noted that Khaligraph had already "washed" (outperformed) many of the artists on the list during his Khali Cartel series and other collaborations.
Criticism of the Original Post
Some users felt the post was merely an attempt to gain attention. User @HillarySore described the list as "clout chasing and tough to watch."
Meanwhile, @ngurekimathi_ suggested that successful figures like Khaligraph often face "hate just for clickbait" because they have stayed at the top for so long.

However, not everyone was in total disagreement with the list. User @VRajwayi noted that the author was "right on Timmy Blanco," while @CecylLagoh asked why the artist Katapilla was missing from the selection.
Khaligraph Jones remains a central figure in East African music. His ability to stir the conversation with a single comment demonstrates his continued influenceover the genre's narrative in Kenya.
