Recruitment targets experts to strengthen innovation governance and audit oversight in state corporations.

The government has announced fresh vacancies at the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) and the Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade), inviting qualified professionals to apply for top-level governance and technical positions in line with their statutory mandates.

In a notice issued by the Selection Panel under the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, State Department for Science, Research and Innovation, applications have been invited for the positions of chairperson and members of the Board of the Kenya National Innovation Agency.

The recruitment is being conducted pursuant to the Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) Act, Cap. 511, which establishes KeNIA and mandates it to develop, coordinate and manage the National Innovation System.

The panel is seeking to fill one position of chairperson under Advert No. KENIA/1/2026 and four positions of Board Member under Advert No. KENIA/2/2026.

According to the advert, the appointments are intended to attract individuals of high integrity, demonstrated leadership and proven expertise in areas relevant to science, technology, innovation, finance, governance, industry or public administration.

The selected individuals will be expected to provide strategic direction and oversight to the agency as it advances Kenya’s innovation ecosystem and national development priorities.

Knowledge and demonstrated experience in specific Science, Technology and Innovation fields will be considered an added advantage.

These include start-up ecosystem development, commercialisation systems, legal, regulatory and policy environments, as well as resource mobilisation and management.

The deadline for submission of applications is March 17, 2026, at 23:59 hours.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The notice further clarifies that, in accordance with applicable public service regulations and governance requirements, individuals currently serving as public officers are not eligible for consideration for these appointments.

Separately, the Kenya Trade Network Agency has announced a vacancy for the position of Internal Auditor – Information Systems, in what it describes as a readvertisement.

The agency is a state corporation under the National Treasury established under the National Electronic Single Window System Act No. 25 of 2022, with a mandate to establish and manage the National Electronic Single Window System and facilitate trade.

KenTrade is seeking to recruit one suitable and qualified candidate for the Internal Auditor – Information Systems position on permanent and pensionable terms.

The successful applicant must meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity.
