Kenya’s most prominent comedian-turned-activist, Eric Omondi, is preparing to hit the road once again. Barely a week has passed since he finished a punishing 484-kilometre trek to Mombasa. Now, he has set his sights on the western border.

Omondi took to social media to announce his next major challenge: a five-day walk from Nairobi to Busia. The journey is scheduled to kick off on Monday, the 2nd, and is expected to finish on Friday.

“Hey guys, I will be walking to the Busia border from Nairobi for 5 days from Next week Monday, the 2nd to Friday,” he updated.

A Relentless Drive for Change

The comedian has become a fixture in Kenyan activism over the last year. His "Sisi Kwa Sisi" (Us for Us) movement focuses on grassroots support for those struggling with poverty. This new walk to Busia is the latest chapter in that mission.

The primary goal of this trek is to raise funds for the Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre.

This facility is being built to provide essential services to those who cannot afford them.

"Sisi Kwa Sisi Help and Rescue Centre will provide Free Health Care and Education to Kenyans," Omondi explained.

No Rest for the Philanthropist

The physical toll of these journeys is significant. His previous walk to Mombasa covered more than 480 kilometres. It was a feat that captured the attention of the entire nation.

During that trip, Omondi was seen walking through various weather conditions, often joined by supporters along the highway.

Many expected the activist to take a long break to recover. Instead, he is already lacing up his boots for the trip to the border. Omondi has vowed that his walking days are far from over. He remains focused on the completion of his rescue centre.

"I will keep walking until SISI KWA SISI HELP AND RESCUE CENTRE IS COMPLETE," he stated firmly.

How the Public Can Get Involved

The "Sisi Kwa Sisi" initiative relies heavily on small donations from the public. Omondi has shared the project's Paybill number, inviting Kenyans to contribute whatever they can.

This transparent approach to fundraising has become a hallmark of his activism. He often documents the lives of people in need, using his massive social media following to crowdsource solutions for hospital bills and school fees.

From Comedy to the Front Lines

The transition from the "President of African Comedy" to a champion of the poor has been swift. While some initially viewed his activism as a series of stunts, the construction of a permanent rescue centre suggests a long-term commitment.

The five-day walk to Busia will likely draw large crowds along the highway, much like his trip to the coast. For Omondi, the goal is simple. He wants to ensure that the most vulnerable Kenyans have access to the basic rights of health and learning.
