Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju on Monday recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over alleged conduct linked to a long-running dispute involving the East Africa Development Bank (EADB).

Tuju appeared at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road on Monday, February 16, to submit his statement to the investigating officer.

He was accompanied by his lawyer, Duncan Okach.

In a statement, Tuju said he had written to the DCI about 10 days ago, reporting what he termed as unlawful activities by a Senior Counsel in matters relating to him and the East African Development Bank.

When reached for comment, the said lawyer said he was not aware of the claims made against him or his firm by Tuju.

"I don't know what claims he (Tuju) has made about me or my firm. The cases are in the public arena and are self-explanatory," he said.

According to Tuju, his submission to the DCI included court records and affidavits, which he claims demonstrate that the lawyer and other lawyers  in the lawyer's company  “procured and manufactured falsehoods” from a former Kenya Country Manager of the bank.

He alleged that the said documents were subsequently filed before the High Court and the Supreme Court of Kenya.

Tuju further questioned the integrity of the law firm, claiming that though it had cultivated an image as a respected international firm, it has recently faced negative publicity.

The DCI is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
