Police have beefed up security ahead of the ODM Linda Mwananchi political rally in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
Officers comprising various police formations were deployed to the town after hundreds of youths thronged the area ahead of the rally on Sunday afternoon.
Several traders closed their shops as members of the public jammed the town. Transport along the Nairobi–Namanga Road was, however, not interrupted.
The group, led by ousted ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, worshipped at ACK St. Peter's Orkeju Emanya Church in Kisaju, Kajiado County. They had yet to arrive in Kitengela town for the rally by press time.

Some of the group's supporters said they had been waiting since as early as 6:30 am, according to those interviewed by The Star.
"I can't wait to see Sifuna; I have been waiting since 6:30 am," a youth said.
The cosmopolitan town remains calm despite the high number of Kenyans who have thronged it.
Motorists have kept out of the town, and members of the public have taken over traffic control from police officers.
