United Green Movement (UGM) presidential flagbearer David Maraga has renewed his pledge to fight corruption without fear or favour, saying no Kenyan will be shielded from justice because of political connections, wealth, or public office.Maraga spoke during the memorial service of the late Mzee Ephantus Njuki Njagi, held at ACK St. Stephen’s Church, Githure, in Kirinyaga county, on Thursday. He was accompanied by UGM Co-Secretary General Katto Wambua, Kirinyaga Woman Representative aspirant Emma Waithera, Kirinyaga Coordinator Madam Carorose, and Murang’a MCA aspirant Chris wa Gúka.In his condolence message, Maraga comforted the family, friends, and mourners of the late Mzee Njagi, describing his life as a reflection of integrity, service, and commitment to community.

Maraga said Kenya’s biggest challenge is not a shortage of resources, but leadership that protects corruption and impunity. He maintained that every public officer must be held accountable for the misuse of public resources, regardless of their position or political affiliation.“I will not protect the corrupt because they support me, know me, or hold a position in government. Justice must be equal for all Kenyans,” Maraga said. The former Chief Justice said he needs only five years to steer Kenya towards a new direction built on integrity, justice, economic fairness, and respect for the Constitution. He urged Kenyans to make careful political choices ahead of the 2027 General Election, scheduled for August 2027, by electing leaders who will move the country forward rather than take it back to “Misri.”As the 2027 General Election approaches, Maraga continues to present himself as a candidate for a corruption-free Kenya, equal justice for all, and a better future for every citizen.
