The Social Health Authority has recorded 48,273 teenage mothers across 44 counties between October 2024 and December 2025.
In a report released on Feb 13, SHA said November 2025 registered the highest monthly figure at 1,266 cases.
“Most cases were documented through the Assisted Registration System, SHA’s primary platform for teenage mother registration,” the report read.
The spike comes after a period of decline.
According to the Economic Survey 2025, adolescent pregnancies dropped in 2024. The survey showed that adolescents aged 10 to 19 presenting at their first antenatal care (ANC) visit fell by 4.8 per cent to 241,228.
In 2023, 110,821 pregnancies were recorded among adolescents aged 10 to 19 in the first five months alone. Data from the Kenya Health Information Systems further indicated that 6,110 pregnancies occurred among adolescents aged 10 to 14, while 104,711 were between 15 and 19 years.
On maternal health, SHA noted that between October 2024 and December 2025, there were 583,298 normal deliveries and 326,684 Caesarean sections in Level II and III government and faith-based facilities. The estimated funding required to support these facilities stands at Sh2.046 billion, it noted.
