The directive follows a previously issued warrant of arrest after Keino allegedly failed to attend his scheduled hearing, citing illness.

His lawyer, Charles Nyamweya, informed the court that Keino had been admitted to a hospital in Nairobi for treatment and was therefore unable to attend the proceedings.

Senior Principal Magistrate Kesse Cheronoh directed that Keino must appear in court with medical reports to prove his absence was due to genuine illness and not an attempt to evade justice.

“I direct that he has to appear with the medical reports without failing,” the magistrate said.

Keino, who was released last year on a Sh3 million bond, is accused of defrauding 18 job seekers of Sh12 million between March and July 2024.

He allegedly promised the victims employment opportunities in Qatar and Australia in nursing, taxi driving, security, and hospitality, receiving between Sh300,000 and Sh1.8 million from each.

He was first arraigned in September 2024, denied the charges, and was released on bond.

His co-accused allegedly fled to Qatar three years ago after being pursued in connection with the alleged fraud.

The case is set for further mention on February 19, 2026.
