Kenya is set to experience mostly sunny and dry weather conditions this week, according to the latest forecast by the Kenya Meteorological Department.
In its weekly outlook covering February 10–16, 2026, the department said much of the country will remain dry, although rainfall is expected in several regions.
These include the Central Highlands, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern Lowlands and parts of Western Kenya.
“Mostly sunny and dry conditions are expected over most parts of the country,” the department said in the forecast shared on its official platform.
Despite the general dry outlook, the Met Department cautioned that some areas could still experience showers during the week.
The forecast notes that rainfall is “likely in some areas,” particularly in regions that have recently recorded isolated rains.
Temperatures are expected to remain high in several parts of the country.
The department said daytime temperatures above 30°C will be recorded in the Coast, the South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern Kenya and North-western Kenya.
These hot conditions could affect outdoor activities and increase discomfort, especially in low-lying and arid areas.
At the same time, residents in high-altitude regions should prepare for cold nights.
The Met Department said night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro. Such cold conditions may affect vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly.
The weekly forecast comes against the backdrop of mixed weather conditions recorded in the previous week.
In its weather review for February 2–8, 2026, the department said rainfall was recorded in a few parts of the country, mainly over the Central Highlands, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and Western Kenya.
The Lake Victoria Basin experienced a “slight increase” in rainfall during the period under review.
The highest 24-hour rainfall amount was recorded at Suba Meteorological Station in Homabay County. The station received 48.2 millimetres of rain on February 7, 2026.
Temperature extremes were also observed across the country during the week. The highest daily maximum temperature was recorded at Lodwar Meteorological Station.
The department said Lodwar hit 38.2°C on February 5, 2026, highlighting the intense heat conditions in the north-western region.
On the colder end, the lowest daily minimum temperature was recorded at Nyahururu Meteorological Station.
The station registered 6.4°C on February 3, 2026, underscoring the cold conditions experienced in parts of the Central Highlands.
The Kenya Meteorological Department continues to monitor weather patterns across the country and advises residents to stay informed through official updates as conditions evolve.
