Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu and Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) member Johnson Muthama are bereaved after losing their son, Moses Nduya Muthama.
Muthama reportedly collapsed at home on Wednesday evening and was rushed to a nearby facility, according to family and friends.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Machakos Senator, Agnes Kavindu and her family during this difficult time. I'm deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your son, Moses Muthama. Please accept our sincerest condolences. Pole sana, Mheshimiwa," Kavindu’s colleague from Kitui, Enock Wambua said.
In 2024, Machakos Governor Wanvinya Ndeti appointed him as Director in the County government in charge of administration. The county boss has since mourned him.
"I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to Machakos Senator Hon. Agnes Kavindu and her family following the untimely passing of her beloved son, Moses Muthama. The people of Machakos County stand with you in this time of profound sorrow and pray that Almighty God grants you comfort, peace, and strength to endure this immense loss. May the Lord grant Moses eternal rest and give the family the courage to bear this great loss. Our prayers are with you," Governor Ndeti said in a statement.
This is the second tragedy that the family has faced following the demise of Nduya’s sibling, Janet Njoki, who died in 2022.
Machakos politician Chris Muthini said late Moses was jovial, down-to-earth, and an outgoing young man whose warmth and humility touched many lives.
“May God grant the family, relatives, and friends strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult moment. My heartfelt condolences to the family of the first Machakos County Senator and current PSC Commissioner, Hon. Johnson Nduya Muthama, Machakos County Senator, Hon. Agnes Kavindu; and the entire Aiini/Aoini clan, following the loss of your beloved son, Mr. Moses Muthama Nduya.”
ODM party spokesman Philip Etale wrote, "Moses Nduya Muthama, this is sad news. I have known you for some time, and you were a cool guy. Go well, ndugu. Fare-thee-well bro. Pole sana to Sen. Johnstone Muthama and Sen. Agnes Kavindu for your loss."
