Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo is giving out a bursary cheque worth Sh24 million for secondary school students in Wagai Gem Constituency/Faith Matete Gem Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo has called on political leaders to stop 'misleading' Kenyans and instead focus on promoting national unity.
Speaking during a bursary cheque disbursement event in Wagai Gem Constituency, Odhiambo told the leaders from the opposition to allow President William Ruto rule peacefully.
“I am asking the opposition, don't mislead Kenyans. Allow President Ruto to rule peacefully, “ he said.
The legislator also appealed to citizens to allow Ruto to govern peacefully, cautioning against statements that could heighten political tensions.
He downplayed calls by the opposition leaders for demonstrations, describing such talk as careless.
According to Odhiambo, people will not be part of the demos.
Odhiambo stressed the importance of national cohesion, urging leaders to avoid tribal rhetoric or forming political groupings along ethnic lines.
“Kenya belongs to all of us. There is no need to talk tribal all the time,” he said.
He reaffirmed his support for President Ruto, insisting that the Head of State’s leadership was secure both constitutionally and politically.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Ruto is President until 2032. Come 2027, his re-election is a sure bet,” Odhiambo said.
According to Odhiambo, President Ruto’s administration has distinguished itself through inclusivity and equitable development across regions previously sidelined.
“For the first time, we have a President determined to ensure that North Eastern, Nyanza, the Coast and other regions are fully included in national development,” he said.
During the event, a total of Sh 24.4 million bursary cheque was given out to parents and guardians of Secondary school going students within the Constituency.
The Wagai event also marked Odhiambo’s ongoing advocacy for equitable development and his call for political leaders to prioritise progress and inclusivity over division.
