Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot has described the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) inaugural Aspirants’ Forum held on Wednesday at State House as a historic milestone, highlighting the confidence Kenyans have in the ruling party.
Cheruiyot said the meeting attracted more than 12,000 aspirants from across the country, making it one of the largest political gatherings of its kind in recent years.
“This turnout is not accidental. It reflects a party that believes in fairness, openness and giving every Kenyan a chance to serve,” he said.
Speaking after the forum, which was chaired by President William Ruto and his deputy Kithure Kindiki, Cheruiyot said the gathering reflected UDA’s internal processes and growing appeal.
He observed that the high turnout indicated a party that provides opportunities for all members to participate in leadership contests.
According to Cheruiyot, UDA has positioned itself as a platform that encourages internal competition while promoting unity around a shared national vision.
The Kericho Senator noted that the forum also highlighted the party’s organisational capacity to mobilise leaders from grassroots to national levels.
He said the party continues to attract individuals interested in offering leadership solutions anchored on development and economic empowerment.
Cheruiyot further stated that UDA has remained committed to implementing its manifesto, citing ongoing government programmes under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) as examples of its policy priorities.
“The United Democratic Alliance has demonstrated both the capacity and the discipline to implement its manifesto,” he said.
He added that the administration has prioritised inclusive growth, job creation, support for small businesses and empowerment of citizens, areas that continue to attract attention from aspiring leaders and voters.
Cheruiyot further stated that the forum offered aspirants an opportunity to align with the party’s values while preparing for competitive nominations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He said UDA continues to operate as a people-centred political movement that emphasises delivery on its objectives and encourages participation in elective leadership.
“With the momentum we are witnessing, UDA is shaping up as a strong contender as we head towards 2027,” Cheruiyot said, expressing confidence in the party’s continued role in national politics.
