A 32-year-old man was found dead after being stabbed in a robbery incident in the Huruma area, Nairobi.
He was identified as Cyrus Ngumbi. He is said to have been on his way home on Sunday night when he was confronted by his assailants, who wanted money and other valuables.
This prompted a brief confrontation before he was stabbed in the chest twice, police said.
The assailants escaped the scene. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.
Police said they were hunting down the assailants. Such incidents have been on the rise in the area amid efforts to contain the trend, police said.
Elsewhere in the Kiwanja area, Kahawa West, Nairobi, two suspects were stoned to death after being accused of being thieves of farm produce.
Locals claimed they had been experiencing cases of theft of the produce in the past month. On February 1, 2026, the two suspects were found stealing maize cobs from a farm before an alarm was raised, alerting locals who responded and stoned the two to death.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said.
Police said they will investigate the incident and discouraged mob lynching at large. The police want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for investigations and further action.
Meanwhile, police are investigating an incident where a body of a man was found in the KU river in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu County.
The man was identified as Samson Asisi, 35. The body was moved to the mortuary pending investigations.
In the Muoroto area, Kamkunji, Nairobi, a member of the street family drowned in the Nairobi River.
The man aged 22 slipped and drowned in the water.
The body was later retrieved and taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
And police are pursuing a group of people who chopped off the hand of a man in an attack in Oyugis, Homa Bay County.
The wrist was taken to the mortuary as the man was admitted in the hospital in a stable condition, police said.
The hunt on the attackers continued
Elsewhere in Kabiruini, Nyeri County, detectives are investigating an incident where a G3 rifle was found at the base of Honi River.
The weapon belongs to the Kenya Police and had been submerged in the shallow water when it was discovered while loaded with 20 bullets, police said.
The police are investigating the incident which happened on Saturday January 24.
