The recruitment drive targets experienced professionals to fill key directorate and research positions under both contract and permanent terms.

In a public notice, the Authority said it is mandated to “develop, manage, regulate, and coordinate irrigation services in Kenya in support of sustainable food security and socio-economic development.”

The work aligns with “the Constitution of Kenya, Vision 2030, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), and the Authority’s Strategic Plan, 2023–2027.”

The hiring process is being handled by Delpo Investments Limited on behalf of the Authority. The firm said it is “inviting applications from suitably qualified, competent, experienced, innovative and results-oriented individuals” to fill the vacant posts.

Among the advertised roles are Director, Irrigation Development; Director, Irrigation Management; Director, Strategy and Planning; and Director, Human Resource and Administration. These director-level roles are on contract and fall under job grade NIA 2.

The Authority is also recruiting for Deputy Director, Research and Innovation, and Deputy Director, Planning and Resource Mobilisation. Both positions are listed as permanent and pensionable under job grade NIA 3.

Additional permanent and pensionable roles include Assistant Director, Planning, and Assistant Director Legal, graded at NIA 4. The post of Principal Research Officer, under Irrigation Management, is also open on permanent and pensionable terms at job grade NIA 5.

All applicants must meet integrity standards. The notice states that “all applicants must meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 on leadership and integrity.”

Detailed job descriptions and application procedures are available on the National Irrigation Authority’s website www.irrigationauthority.go.ke/careers/ and Delpo Investments Limited’s website www.delpo.co.ke. Applications must be submitted through the online recruitment portal at https://delpo.co.ke/vacancies/

The notice makes it clear that “only applications submitted through the online portal and accompanied by all the required documentation will be considered.”

Applicants are required to upload a formal application letter together with supporting documents. These include an up-to-date curriculum vitae, a copy of the National Identification Card, and certified copies of academic and professional certificates.

Candidates must also provide testimonials and other relevant documents demonstrating qualifications and experience. Active telephone contacts, a valid email address, and the details of three professional referees are also required.

The deadline has been set for the evening of February 10, 2026. The notice states that “all applications must be received on or before 1700 hours on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.” It adds that “only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.”

The Authority emphasised fairness in the process. It said the National Irrigation Authority “is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to diversity and inclusion.” It also warned applicants that “canvassing shall lead to automatic disqualification.”
