A Kenyan man has gone viral after claiming a striking resemblance to the popular comedian and content creator, Eddie Butita.
The man, seen in a widely circulated video wearing an orange Real Madrid jersey, spoke about his life as a celebrity "doppelgänger" during an interview with Mr Mombasa.
The Daily Life of a Lookalike
The man explained that his likeness to the comedian is so close that it often causes a stir in public. He noted that strangers frequently stop him in the street to ask for photos.
"When I step out like this, they want selfies and things like that," he told the interviewer.
He first realised the resemblance years ago after a photo was taken of him. According to his account, people began approaching him to ask if he was indeed Butita or what the "connection" was.

The Unanswered Message
Despite the local fame, the man revealed that he had attempted to make formal contact with the comedian. He told Mr Mombasa that he had already sent a Direct Message (DM) to Butita’s Instagram account.
However, at the time of the interview, he had not received a response from the Stage Presence Media boss.

"I have already DMed him, but he has not responded yet."
When asked what he would say if he were granted just one minute with the comedian, the man’s tone turned into a plea for assistance. He referred to himself as Butita's "brother" and suggested that he is currently facing a difficult life.
"I would tell him to come for his brother; he is really going through it here. I am Struggling."
The lookalike was very clear about his current situation. He used the phrase "nakapitia sana," indicating that he is "really going through it" or struggling significantly. He repeated this sentiment, urging the comedian to recognise their "brotherhood" and help him out of his current circumstances.
Butita Breaks His Silence
Eddie Butita eventually acknowledged the viral story, though he chose to respond publicly on social media rather than through a private message. The comedian reacted to an Instagram post featuring the interview clip.
Butita posted a series of five laughing emojis before adding a short comment in Sheng. He wrote, "nilikua nakaa hivyo kitambo," which translates to "I used to look like that a long time ago."

Social Media Engagement
The interaction has drawn significant attention online. At the time of the report, Butita’s specific comment had already gathered 50 likes and seven direct replies within just 17 hours of being posted.
While the lookalike continues to wait for a formal meeting or support, the comedian’s light-hearted response suggests he sees the resemblance as a reflection of his younger self.
