Also present is Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea(L).Uasin Gishu county has formalised a partnership with SNV, a Netherlands-based development NGO, through a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting sustainable development in key economic sectors.
Governor Jonathan Bii signed the agreement alongside SNV country Director for Kenya and Burundi Rebecca Hallam. The partnership will focus on agriculture, energy and water, with a strong emphasis on supporting youth and business enterprises.
“Such partnerships will help us focus on critical areas such as youth and business. We urge our young people to tap into the programmes we have put in place,” Bii said, adding that the county would mobilise youth to benefit from the collaboration.
Hallam said the MoU formalises a shared vision for inclusive development, leveraging SNV’s decades of expertise in agri-food systems, renewable energy and water.
She said SNV would provide capacity building to help farmers and enterprises adapt to challenges such as climate change, while promoting practices such as regenerative agriculture to improve yields and business models.

“This MoU is a commitment to shared progress. By working together, we can leverage resources, knowledge and networks to create lasting impact for the people of Uasin Gishu,” Hallam said.
The partnership will also focus on policy development to create an enabling environment for smallholder farmers, SMEs and youth, and women-led enterprises. SNV’s ongoing programmes, including IYBA-SEED and REALMS, have already supported thousands of smallholder farmers and strengthened entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Hallam said the MoU provides a structured framework for joint planning, implementation and monitoring of projects, ensuring alignment with SNV’s mission and the county’s development priorities. The collaboration underscores the role of strategic partnerships in addressing systemic challenges and delivering sustainable solutions for communities.
