President William Ruto has disbursed Sh168 million under the NYOTA Business Start-Up Capital project to more than 6,720 young beneficiaries drawn from Meru, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi counties.

Speaking at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County on Thursday, the President said the funding initiative is designed to ease barriers to enterprise formation, expand regional trade, and enable young people to pursue self-employment opportunities.

The beneficiaries will access business capital across various sectors, including retail, service, and agribusiness ventures, with the aim of strengthening local value chains and stimulating micro-enterprise growth.

The President said the project is expected to support skill development, business mentorship and financial literacy, complementing broader government efforts to increase youth participation in the economy.

Ruto added that the NYOTA scheme will operate alongside other youth-focused initiatives within the Hustler Fund ecosystem, arguing that collectively they will reduce dependency on informal lenders and enhance financial inclusion.
