Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri/FILE
On Thursday morning, a car carrying Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri was involved in a road accident at Siraji Timau along the Meru–Nanyuki Road.
Police said the MP and occupants of both his vehicle and a matatu sustained minor injuries.
He was reportedly heading to a presidential event in Meru town. The injured were taken to hospitals and were reported to be in stable condition.
The MP’s team said he was fine and in good spirits but did not provide further details.

I am also glad to report that those in the other vehicle, which was carrying Catholic sisters, are doing well. Thank you to my constituents and fellow Kenyans for the prayers and goodwill.”
Police said they were looking into the incident.
Road accidents have been on the rise in the country. Police statistics show that 294 people died in separate road accidents between January 1 and January 21, 2026, an increase compared with the same period last year.
More than 600 people were injured and are receiving treatment in hospitals.
About Rindikiri
Mugambi Rindikiri has represented Buuri Constituency in the Kenya National Assembly since 2017. Before entering politics, he held various positions in the insurance sector, including Chairman/Director at Channel Insurance Brokers Ltd (2003–2017), Division Manager at Madison Insurance Company (1995–2003), and Branch Manager at British American Insurance Company (1991–1995).
He also worked at the Kenya Post and Telecommunications Corporation in the Planning Office from 1984 to 1991.
Rindikiri’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi (1984).
He attended Meru School for his Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (1979), Kibirichia Boys Secondary School for his Kenya Certificate of Education (1977), and Kimbo Primary School, where he completed his primary education in 1973.
