Marion Naipei, the woman at the centre of a recent viral video, has broken her silence to defend her actions and explain the events leading up to the incident.
Speaking in a candid interview with content creator 2Mbili, the 23-year-old mother of one detailed her relationship with James Opande, the man allegedly behind the camera.
Defending the Dress
Addressing the intense public scrutiny regarding her clothing, Naipei maintained that her outfit was appropriate for the setting.
"Being a lady, and it’s our first time meeting, how am I supposed to dress? And remember it’s in a club. You know, there are dresses for church, club, and everywhere else,” she asserted.

She explained that the dress appeared shorter than it was due to her movement and physique.
“The dress wasn’t that short. It was due to my movements while walking, which pull upwards. For a person whom you’ve been constantly talking with, and it’s the first time you’re meeting, aren’t you supposed to look good or sexy?” she posed.
A Digital Meeting Gone Wrong
Naipei revealed that she first met Opande, who is based in the United States, through the dating application Tinder in April 2025. The two had been communicating for several months before meeting in person.
She described him as someone she really trusted before the unfortunate events unfolded.

"We met on Tinder... the communication has been there, so this is someone I really trusted,” she said.
The incident occurred at a local pub after the pair had visited a main club. Naipei alleges that she was drugged and intoxicated at the time, which left her unaware that she was being filmed.
She believes Opande recorded the footage for his own consumption but eventually shared it online without her consent.

The Heavy Toll of Going Viral
The aftermath of the video has been devastating for the young mother. The footage quickly spread across platforms like Telegram and Facebook, eventually reaching her family.
Her father was reportedly shown the video by a third party, leading to significant friction at home.

The trauma of the public exposure led Naipei to a breaking point. She confessed to attempting suicide by ingesting cleaning agents.
"I was so traumatised... the thought of this thing being out there... my parents will see."
Beyond the emotional distress, the viral incident has had practical consequences. Naipei was evicted from her house and disowned by some family members. She is currently staying with her cousins while she attempts to rebuild her life.

The Road to Recovery and Justice
Naipei is now seeking legal recourse against Opande with the help of Geoffrey Mosiria, who has been providing legal guidance. She reported the matter to the police at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), but Opande has yet to be apprehended.
